Who the hell is this guy anyway?

I was born in Sacramento, California at the start of the 60’s.  A couple of years later my family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where I spent the greater part of my childhood in the East Bay cities of Richmond and Pinole raising havoc on my bicycle and skateboards.  Once out of high school I spent a couple of years at UC Santa Cruz enjoying the redwoods and the beaches before finishing up my education at San Francisco State University.  In 1984 I received a BS in Electrical Engineering and later went on to get my Professional Engineer’s license.

After all that hard work in school I decided to put my skills to use working for the Federal Government.  I started my Federal career as an electrical engineer working at the now defunct Mare Island Naval Shipyard.  I learned all about surface ships and submarines including the deep dive programs involving the mini-subs Turtle and Sea Cliff.  After a couple of years I could see the writing on the wall and decided to jump ship so to speak and go work for the Military Sealift Command, Pacific.  There I became the solo electrical engineer in the Technical Design Branch and had a blast traveling the Western Pacific doing a mixture of design work, troubleshooting and onboard testing of various electrical and electronic systems.  It was a blast!  Unfortunately base closures and personnel reductions caught up to me so once again it was time for a career change.  This time I really jumped ship and hit the airways.  I currently work for the Federal Aviation Administration as the supervisor of a group of technicians who maintain a large-scale air traffic control facility in Northern California.  Quite a change from ships and submarines but satisfying none the less!

I’m currently single and lovin’ it but that hasn’t always been the case.  Back in 1987 I met a pretty cool young lady.  After an amazing Spring, Summer and Fall of romance we tied the knot.  Life was good with my job taking me all over the place, roadracing on weekends and generally having fun.  Unfortunately we both grew in different directions and after barely 3 years of marriage we split.  Fortunately we were both adult about the affair and our separation was relatively straightforward.  Since that time I've lead the single life.  Sure I've dated a few women but have yet to find that one special connection.  It's pretty tough to find someone who shares the same joy of life and desire to explore that I have...

So that’s a little bit about me. Hope it’s enlightening….
